A remake and more
This mobile remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is totally faithful to the original adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog and his friend Tails: same screens, same aesthetic, and - above all - the same level of challenge as the 1992 platformer. So, if you are looking for a 90’s experience, you will find it in this adaptation.
Of course, like any good rerelease also it has new features. Now, along with Sonic and Tails, you can also play the whole game as Knuckles – another of Sonic’s friends who didn’t sign on until Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
In addition to the new gameplay this character brings, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 also introduce some intelligent refinements to the original game - namely converting the one-on-one races into an online game (though it can be hard to find users to play with) and a new boss rush mode.
Sonic’s looking good
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 retains the aesthetics of the original home console version. The only real visual changes has being to remaster the graphics to fit the modern widescreen display of today's mobiles and to run at 60 fps. This is a subtle change but improves him experience.
The soundtrack of the game is also there in full but also features remastered tracks, which are a real treat.
As for the controls, we have the classic stick system and touch, all controlled through virtual onscreen-buttons.
A treat for fans of retro
As it did with the first Sonic, Sega’s remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is ideal for all who feel nostalgic for some Hedgehog and Fox action. This is the game you remember, but adapted for the modern age.
